Richards 3d printed Titanium Gravel bicycle
More than three years ago, we began developing our first gravel frame with 3D-printed titanium components. We designed and built the frame in-house and welded it in Basel; the titanium parts were produced in Germany using additive manufacturing.
During 2022, the project received the German Innovation Award. It was developed together with Flurin, a mechanical-engineering student at ETH Zurich who worked with us for six months.
The bicycle recently returned to our workshop for service. For the Strade Bianche event, the rider chose fast-rolling Vittoria Corsa Pro Control 700 × 30C tubeless tyres, while normally using wider tyres. The raw surface of the printed components was intentionally retained.
