Function & compatibility

The details for your build.

Mechanical Pinion shifting for drop bars and flat bars.

The Hibox P1 replaces the Pinion twist shifter with ergonomic brake/shift levers or the Hibox Trigger. You can shift without taking your hand off the brake lever. This version is designed for Pinion P-Line gearboxes.

Shift up on the left and down on the right – or vice versa. With compatible drop-bar brake/shift levers, each press shifts one gear. The Hibox Trigger T1 can shift up to two gears per press. Shifting is also possible while stationary, coasting or pedalling backwards.

Features

  • Designed for Pinion P-Line
  • Independent left/right shifting on drop bars – one gear shift per press
  • Compatible with Shimano brake/shift levers using a ShimKit and with SRAM brake/shift levers
  • Compatible with the Hibox Trigger
  • Compact housing, approximately 70 g without cables
  • Optimised cable routing and low maintenance
  • Suitable for gravel, MTB, touring and bikepacking

For mounting the Hibox Trigger, we recommend a combined brake and shifter clamp such as Magura Shiftmix. A universal clamp is also available.

Important installation notice: Pinion P1.18 crank clearance

Older CNC-machined Pinion cranks can sit very close to the HIBOX and may touch it. According to our experience as a dealer, forged Pinion cranks are not affected. Correct axial crank positioning according to Pinion’s instructions is essential.

  1. Tighten the centre screw to 10 Nm.
  2. The remaining 1–2 mm of axial movement on the input shaft is normal and no reason for concern.
  3. Pull the crank fully outward to the stop.
  4. Then tighten both clamp screws alternately and in stages to 6 Nm each.

This positions the crank correctly and maximises clearance to the HIBOX.

Pinion P1.18 crank installation: centre screw 10 Nm, normal 1–2 mm axial movement, pull crank outward to the stop, then tighten both clamp screws alternately in stages to 6 Nm each.

Good to know.

Does Hibox replace the Pinion gearbox?

No. Hibox is a mechanical shift control for a compatible Pinion gearbox.

Do the shifters need modification?

Shimano and SRAM brake/shift levers require modification. Shimano also requires the correct Gebla ShimKit. The compatibility table lists supported models.

Where can I find installation support?

The Hibox manuals cover installation and adjustment. HILITE Bikes in Basel can help with questions about your build.

Which drop-bar shifters do you recommend?

Shimano and SRAM both work well. Shimano requires less force when shifting from the hoods, while SRAM has a shorter lever throw when shifting from the drops. It depends on your preference.

Can I use SRAM GX or NX shifters?

With limitations: you can shift one gear at a time. You need both a left and a right shifter, and both must be modified.

How do I modify SRAM and Shimano shifters?

Visit gebla.de and navigate to “Rohbox All Inclusive” for modification instructions. Shimano requires the matching ShimKit. SRAM requires no additional parts.

Do you offer dealer or OEM pricing?

Yes. Send us an email so we can upgrade your account to a dealer account.
